Open Play
We have Open Play typically starting at 8:30am (or earlier) daily. You search out players that play similar to you, and that’s where you will find your game. When you finish a game and there are people waiting to play, we follow a “two on two off” policy. The two losers leave the court and the two winners remain. Once you’ve played 2 consecutive games winners also leave the court and get back in line. When a game finishes, you should be watching, and go to that court. Do not wait to be called over from an “OPEN COURT” yell across the courts.
You can always check the webcam to see if someone is playing before you head to the courts.
Round Robin
Round Robin events are a dynamic and social way to play pickleball. Participants rotate partners and opponents throughout the event, ensuring that everyone gets a chance to play with different skill levels. This format encourages camaraderie and allows players to experience diverse playing styles. Round Robins are typically organized for players of various skill levels, making them inclusive and enjoyable for all.
Leagues
Participating in a league at Lefferson Park with Middletown Pickleball Association offers a structured and competitive playing experience. Players sign up as an individual (not a team) and choose a league based on skill level, allowing for balanced and enjoyable matches. Our leagues follow a “ladder” format that pairs you with others of similar skill sets. You play doubles and get to play with each player assigned to your court at each session. Leagues provide a great opportunity for players to regularly engage in matches, track their progress, and forge connections with fellow pickleball enthusiasts.

Tournaments
For those seeking a higher level of competition, Middletown Pickleball Association hosts tournaments at Lefferson Park. These events bring together players from various skill levels and provide an opportunity to showcase their abilities in a competitive setting. Tournaments often feature both singles and doubles matches, allowing participants to challenge themselves and experience the thrill of competitive pickleball.
Meet Our Members
After retiring a few years ago, I was looking for an activity that would provide exercise and some competitiveness. My friend suggested I meet him to try Pickleball. After we had played for 30-minutes, I was hooked. What has surprised me the most is meeting a lot of wonderful new people with the same competitive spirit, but in a relaxed and enjoy full environment.
MPA provided a wonderful way to learn the game through the Learn to Play sessions. Players at the courts are always welcoming and friendly. Purchasing my paddle through MPA even offset my member dues.
